Hi, I’m Luke. I was born on December 23rd 2004 in Watford, and have lived in the nearby town of Hemel Hempstead my whole life. Like everyone, I do not have clear memories of my first few years. Still, I remember enjoying a caravan holiday in Ramsgate when I was 3, another caravan holiday in Walton-on-the-Naze when I was 4 and a weekend in Paris when I was 4.
Also, at age 4, I was diagnosed with Asperger’s Syndrome, an autism spectrum disorder. I only have mild Asperger’s Syndrome, but it significantly affects me. I sometimes take things literally, making it hard for me to take a joke, and I also get random obsessions that come and go.
I enjoyed primary school and fondly remember residential trips to a couple of scout camps in my home county of Hertfordshire. During and since primary school, I have also experienced multiple seaside holidays to destinations such as Eastbourne, Blackpool, Scarborough, Bournemouth, and Torquay.
In 2014, I went on a week away to Portugal with my mum and her partner’s family, which was an amazing holiday. Even better was when we went on a 2-week long holiday to Orlando in 2016, where I overcame my fear of rollercoasters.
2016 I started secondary school, and despite a rocky start, I settled nicely. During secondary school, especially the US elections of 2016 and 2020 and the UK elections of 2017 and 2019, I developed a keen interest and passion for politics.
Like many others, my education was severely disrupted during the COVID pandemic. However, I regard Year 11, of which January to March was spent in lockdown, as my best year of secondary school. I achieved straight 6s and 7s in my GCSEs, and I stayed on for sixth form, where I studied Film Studies, Geography and Sociology, of which I achieved straight Bs, which was enough to get me into studying Politics at Westminster, which brought me to where I am today.
My story wouldn’t be complete without mentioning my fantastic girlfriend Layla, with whom I have had unique experiences, such as visiting Cornwall for the first time and a holiday to Benidorm in July 2023. This was fun to write, and I have enjoyed the experience of doing a short writing about myself!
