From Europe to Bangkok

I am writing this blog two days before my departure to Thailand. I’m thrilled to embark on

this trip, as I’ve never been this far from home, and I’m eager to explore the city of

Bangkok. I imagine this trip to be very exciting and educational, as I’m going to be

socialising with the Thai students at Kasetsart University and other delegates from the

upcoming MUN conference. I imagine Thailand to be a beautiful city with very kind people

people and many building attractions to view, museums to visit, markets to explore.

Academically, I expect it to be quite similar in terms of systems. Culturally, I expect it to

be quite different from ours, as I know that some of the population in Thailand follows

Buddhism. I would like to visit one of their temples and further expand my knowledge

about the religion.

As for socially, I hope they are friendly and kind people who will inform me more about

their country, build connections with them and hope to see them again when they come

Take me to London and show me around the places they enjoy the most going to in their city. As for

the environment, I might first struggle with the climate, such as pollution in the city;

however, I can’t wait to try some Thai traditional food such as Tom Yum Goong, Pad Thai

and different cutties like green and red. I think I will manage the hot weather as I’ve

been to hotter countries and will be staying open-minded and willing to learn about new

things, do some networking and build connections with student’s but also remain

respectful, diplomatic, and understanding of the different points of view they might have.

Overall, I’m very excited to go and I believe this will be a very unique experience for me

that will most certainly help me improve my public and social skills, further expand my

knowledge culturally and educationally, and represent the University of Westminster as

best as possible
