A Journey Toward Cultural Discovery

I have never been to Thailand before, but as the departure date draws closer, the idea of the journey begins to glow in my mind like a distant lantern. I imagine a place unlike anywhere I have seen—a world warmer, brighter, and richer in colour than cold December London. Somewhere beyond the long flight, I sense an adventure waiting to stretch both my curiosity and my courage. The thought of wandering through Bangkok’s vibrant streets with my university friends fills me with joy; something unforgettable lies just beyond the horizon.

Academically, I envision Kasetsart University as a gateway to a different educational environment, one that offers innovative teaching methods, fresh perspectives, and discussions that challenge my current understanding of learning. Culturally, I see myself walking barefoot in Thai temples, exploring museums, and uncovering histories I have yet to experience. Socially, I hope to gently immerse myself in the rhythm of Thai daily life, observing, learning, and finding comfort in routines that are unfamiliar but will temporarily become part of my experience.

become a temporaryI know the heat will greet me like a warm embrace—far more welcome than London’s winter chill. I expect the culture to require thoughtfulness and respect, and I am ready to listen and learn at every step. The food remains the greatest mystery, but it is an exciting one; I hope every dish tells a new story. Communication doesn’t worry me—I am prepared to adapt, download new apps, or use an eSIM if needed to stay connected.

In truth, the most exciting part is not only the destination but the journey itself. Exploring a new country, discovering a new city, and learning alongside both friends and Thai students will make this experience transformative. For me, this trip is more than travel—it is a chance to step into a new world and return with memories that will shape me long after the plane touches down back home.
